Dimitri Agathos and Lachlan Gibbons are hopeful of wet weather conditions when the Australian Production Car Series heads to Phillip Island for this weekend’s 4 Hour.
According to Agathos and Gibbons, some moisture on the circuit will favour the attributes of the Nova Employment/Castrol/Whiteline/All Drive Subaroo/Hog’s Breath Café North Parramatta & Castle Hill Subaru WRX STI, with its all-wheel-drive traction and nimble handling.
“A bit of rain would certainly help us, and would give us an advantage over the rear-wheel-drive cars,” Agathos said.
Apart from the Bathurst 6 Hour, this weekend’s event is the longest single race on the APCS calendar and Gibbons says strategy will be decisive in the outcome.
“In practice, we’ll be analysing our fuel usage and use that information to plan our strategy for the race.
“We expect we’ll need three pit stops but if there are lots of Safety Cars or wet weather running, we may be able to get through on two.”
Following their strong performance in the previous round of the series at Queensland Raceway, Agathos and Gibbons have risen to sixth in the outright standings and effectively fourth in Class A1. A strong performance this weekend could elevate them further up the leader-board.
“Hopefully we can be competitive against the Rod Salmon/Nathan Antunes Mercedes A45 AMG, as it is our closest rival at the moment,” Gibbons said.
All Sunday’s action will be live streamed via the Shannons Nationals website.
