Tony Bates says his Australian GT Championship campaign is back in business after a confident performance aboard his KFC/Moveitnet/C-Tech Laser/B&B/Local Roadways Audi R8 in a postponed Race 2 this evening.
Bates started and finished seventh outright, enjoying a great start that saw him hold on to the leading pack for the majority of the race.
“I was really happy with the car and my performance today – I felt comfortable and was able to push much closer to the limit than in qualifying,” Bates said.
“This circuit traditionally hasn’t been one of my strongest, so to finish today being competitive with some really good drivers was satisfying.”
Daniel Gaunt will be back behind the wheel for Race 3 tomorrow, with rain expected at the Albert Park circuit. He will start 27th on the grid after the cut tyre he suffered in Race 1.
Tomorrow’s third race is LIVE on Channel 10 at 12:00 midday as part of the Australian Grand Prix coverage.
Tony will be back in the car for Sunday’s fourth and final race at 12:00 midday local time.
