APB Group Porsche Carrera Cup star Dylan O’Keeffe will showcase his talents against some of the best young Porsche racers from around the world when he lines up for the Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme Shootout in France.
By virtue of his standout on-track performances which see him lying second in the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup standings, the Ashley Seward Motorsport driver has been selected by Porsche Motorsport as a wildcard entry for the event, which offers the winner of a position in the Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme and funding towards a drive in the Mobil 1 Supercup.
It will be O’Keeffe’s second attempt at the Shootout after he participated in last year’s contest in Germany, but the 20-year-old says he feels better prepared this time around.
“Last year’s Shootout was such an incredible experience, and I never thought I’d have the opportunity to do it again,” O’Keeffe said.
“I feel like being in this year’s Carrera Cup title contest has brought out the best in my driving, and with another year’s experience under my belt, I’m well prepared to give it a really good shot.”
The Shootout will be held shortly after this weekend’s Carrera Cup season finale at the Gold Coast 600, and O’Keeffe says finishing the season strongly is his immediate focus.
“I’m concentrating on doing as well as I can in the last three races of the year, and doing all I can to take the Carrera Cup title fight all the way to the wire,” he said.
“It’s been a great competition against Jaxon (Evans) all season, and I’m really pleased to see he’s going to be in the Shootout as well.”
Practice and qualifying for Round 8 of Carrera Cup will be held on the streets of Surfers Paradise tomorrow.
