Ashley Seward Motorsport driver Michael Caruso has expressed his excitement at returning to one of his favourite circuits in the country and proclaimed he is ready for anything at this weekend’s second round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series.
The Autoglym Australia-backed racer started the 2022 season with promise, some storming drives through the field showcasing the car speed of his Alfa Romeo Giulietta. While power steering issues prevented Caruso from setting a qualifying lap, he charged through the field to 12th in race one.
Race two saw Caruso race forward even more impressively to ninth before finishing eighth in a shortened, red flag-interrupted race three. Heading to Phillip Island, Caruso is eager to highlight the pace of the car when not faced with mechanical issues.
“I’m looking forward to racing this weekend at Phillip Island, it’s one of my favourite circuits in the country. The place is absolutely picturesque and full of history from so many different categories,” said Caruso.
“Going there in the little Alfa Romeo and tearing around in TCR is a lot of fun. I’m keen to see what we’ve got this weekend, there were some issues in Tasmania that saw us start at the back, but we had a lot of really good speed when those issues were rectified.
“On paper the track probably doesn’t suit the Alfa as well as some of the other venues, but the TCR category is so competitive you have to be ready for anything. Bathurst is another place I wouldn’t highlight for the Alfa, but it was a really good weekend for me in 2021, which just proves you can be up the front anywhere” Caruso concluded.
Ashley Seward Motorsport will also field Brett Holdsworth in Trans Am, with Caruso hitting the track in TCR Australia. The duo will be in action live on Stan Sports from March 18-20.
