Jason Miller and Richard Baskus have scored a class podium result in the opening Cue Production Sports Endurance Super Series one-hour race at Mount Panorama today, finishing third in Class A and 19th outright.
Baskus started the race, and improved from 26th to 20th on the opening lap. He pitted as soon as the compulsory pit stop window opened at the end of lap 7, handing the car over to Miller for the run to the chequered flag – Miller recorded his best lap-time of the weekend at a 2:17.
“Richard made a great start, and made up some places on the first lap,” Miller said.
“By the time I got in the car, a lot of the hard work had been done, and I was able to focus on improving my lap times.
“I improved by more than four seconds compared to qualifying, so I’m really happy considering it’s my first time racing such a fast car here.”
Miller and Baskus are hopeful of further improvements tomorrow.
“We probably need to improve our lap times a little more to be able to make up more places, but we’ve definitely made some good progress today,” Miller said.
The second one-hour race will commence at 9:50 tomorrow morning, and will be live streamed via the Bathurst 6 Hour website and Facebook page.
