An unfortunate rear differential failure in today’s two-hour Australian Production Car Series race has prematurely ended an encouraging weekend for Jason Miller and the Stokes Skis Australia team at Winton.
Following his top-five finish yesterday, Miller was again running strongly in today’s race, running seventh when the diff expired after 16 laps.
The team is investigating the cause of the failure, and has confirmed a replacement diff will be fitted for the next round of the series at Sydney Motorsport Park.
“It was a shame for our day to end the way it did – we were hitting our target lap-times every lap, even in traffic,” Miller said.
“There are still a lot of positives to take out of the weekend, especially with our fifth position in Race 1 and our practice speed in the rain on Friday – we have a competitive package in the dry, and a car that’s capable of winning outright in the wet.
“We’ll go away, do some homework and install a new diff in time for the next round.”
Round 4 of the APCS will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park, 21-23 September.
