Cosmopolitan Australia Magazine 2017 Sportswoman of the Year finalist Emily Duggan is ready to resume her winning ways when she returns to the driver’s seat of her SmartFuels2Race Hyundai Excel for Round 6 of Series X3 NSW at Sydney Motorsport Park this Sunday.
Duggan – currently second in the highly-competitive category – was a commanding round winner last time the series visited SMP’s Amaroo circuit in April; she qualified on pole position, won the weekend’s first two races and finished a close second in a hotly-contested final.
“It’s been a long break since the last round so I am beyond excited to be back behind the wheel,” Duggan said.
“The coolest thing about Sydney Motorsport Park is that it can be configured into different layouts – it’s like having four race tracks in one!
“I’ve raced on all the different layouts and the Amaroo circuit is my favourite; it’s very technical and suits my driving style.
“Last time I raced there, I recorded my best-ever results so it’s a track that holds great memories for me.
“Over the break, I took the opportunity to do some maintenance work on the race car, including fitting a new Exedy clutch – these heavy-duty clutches have the perfect combination of sensitivity and endurance for competitive motorsport.
“I tested at the track a couple of weeks ago and felt at home straight away – I was on the pace on my very first lap.
“The focus on this round will be on securing more race wins and gaining valuable points.”
Round 6 of Series X3 NSW consists of qualifying and three races on Sunday, 1 October.
