Family Factor to Boost Holdsworth at Phillip Island

Brett Holdsworth will have the backing of a strong family presence at Phillip Island this weekend for round two of the Trans Am Series, as he competes for Ashley Seward Motorsport.

For the first time since 2019, Brett’s father Glen Holdsworth will attend a race meeting, with his mother Diana, along with a contingent of Brett’s extended family. Supercars driver Lee will also be on hand to support his brother after recently assisting Brett in a test day.

Holdsworth started his 2022 campaign with three top 10 results which leaves him fifth in points as he heads to Phillip Island. The Holdsworth brothers recently completed a test day at the track, marking the first time Brett has been able to conduct pre-race testing for an event on the Island.

“It’s going to be awesome having the whole family in my corner this weekend, it’s been a while since mum and dad were able to come to a meet and the extended family down in Melbourne as well will all be there.

“Lee will be hanging around as well, I’ll have to make sure he doesn’t jump in the car when I’m not looking.

“I’m actually really looking forward to this one, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Symmons Plains weekend because there was just so much drama and not much green flag racing, but Phillip Island is a much more open circuit,” said Holdsworth.

“I’ve never really gone especially well here but I also hadn’t ever tested at the track before any of my race meets there. So, a couple weeks ago I went down with the team and Lee came along too and I just put down lap after lap and really worked on the setup and my lines. Lee did some laps as well and looked over the data and we found some big gains.

“This season I’m just looking to haul in consistent points at every round, if I can get through the year without any major incidents I will be pretty far up there in the championship. We ticked that off the list in Tassie so fingers crossed we can do it again this weekend,” Holdsworth concluded.

March 18-20 will see the Trans Am Series in action at Phillip Island, contesting three 13 lap races across the weekend.
