Miller Challenged by Variable Bathurst Weather

Jason Miller has been challenged by some tricky weather conditions in Race 1, Round 5 of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at the Bathurst International today.

It is Miller’s first race meeting at Bathurst since the 6 Hour in 2019, and the weekend started on a positive note when he punched out the sixth-fastest time outright (fifth in the Pro Class).

“I was happy with my pace in qualifying, I was only a few tenths away from being inside the top three,” Miller said.

Light rain was falling at the start of Race 1, necessitating wet weather tyres for everyone in the field; Miller initially slotted into fifth but as the race progressed and the circuit dried, he found himself struggling for pace, losing some places in the latter stages and eventually finishing 10th outright and seventh in the Pro Class.

“To be honest, I just struggled for a bit of race pace as the track dried, which comes to familiarity with the car and tyres in changeable conditions,” Miller said.

“Hopefully the weather will be fine for tomorrow, because our dry weather pace is on  the money.”

Races 2 and 3 for the Sprint Challenge will be held tomorrow at 12:40pm and 2:30pm.
