Miller Qualifies 7th for PMSC Finale

Jason Miller has qualified his Stokes Skis Australia Porsche seventh on the grid for the sixth and final round of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, which is being held at Phillip Island this weekend.

Miller was fifth-fastest in practice earlier this morning, and in qualifying his team elected to use two sets of new tyres in an effort to maximise his grid position. However, Miller said the new tyre gain was not quite there.

“We rolled the car out of the trailer with a good base setup and it felt strong on old tyres in the practice session,” Miller said.

“However, when we bolted greens on for qualifying, we didn’t improve as much as some of the other teams. We elected to do two runs, but towards the end of the session there was a light sprinkle of rain, which reduced the grip levels.

“On my best lap, I made a small mistake coming out of the last corner, which cost me a couple of tenths. We only ended up 0.3s behind fourth position, so we’re not far away.”

Miller said he is enjoying the thrill of racing at Phillip Island again.

“I’ve raced at Island Magic before, competing in the Production Sports Car CUE Endurance Series, and it’s a great track – it really suits the Porsche,” Miller said.

This weekend’s race format consists of a trio of sprint races, all to be held on Saturday.

“All three of our races are tomorrow, and there’s not much turnaround time between the races, so it will be critical to avoid any damage as you may not have time to fix the car,” Miller said.

“It’s a big and competitive field this weekend, but hopefully I can move forward a few positions in the races.”

All three races will be live streamed on Blend Line TV, with the stream available below.
