Burradoo Formula Ford racer Lachlan Mineeff will tick another race track off his bucket list when he heads to Melbourne’s Sandown Raceway this weekend for Round 4 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Mineeff has already travelled to Queensland and South Australia this season, and is looking forward to the challenge of learning another new venue.
“I always enjoy learning new circuits, and I’ve been doing some simulator work at Race Stars Simulators in Bowral to prepare for this weekend,” Mineeff said.
“It looks like a cool track, almost like a permanent street circuit with quite a few 90-degree corners. There are a couple of long straights as well, so slipstreaming will be key.”
Mineeff currently sits eighth in the national Formula Ford standings, just 15 points behind third place. He achieved his personal-best round result – fourth – in the previous round of the national series at Wakefield Park, and also competed in a state championship event at South Ausralia’s Tailem Bend circuit last month, where he won two races.
“I feel like we’ve got some strong momentum at the moment – every race meeting, I’m learning and improving.
“It definitely helps to have the support of the passionate team at CHE Racing, especially Cameron Hill who has been an awesome driver coach.”
This weekend’s event consists of free practice on Friday, followed by qualifying and racing on Saturday and Sunday.
