Nervous Excitement for Junior Bathurst Duo

The youngest drivers on the Bathurst 6 Hour grid, Lachlan Mineeff and Tom Sargent have described the last day before the big race as one of nervous excitement.

Sargent completed most of the running in this morning’s final practice session, before Mineeff took control of the Toyota 86 for qualifying, placing fourth in Class D.

“It’s like the night before Christmas, I probably won’t sleep that well because I’ll be so excited about tomorrow!” Sargent said.

“After the red flags yesterday, it was good to get some clean running today, and by the end of the session I had good speed and consistency.”

“Most of the other drivers in Class D have a lot of experience at Bathurst, so we’re very happy with fourth on the grid – it sets us up well for a good race tomorrow,” Mineeff said.

“There will be a lot to think about in the race, especially with the added elements of pit stops and driver changes, and there are some very specific rules with minimum and maximum driver times.

“Cameron Hill is going to be looking after our strategy, and hopefully we can pit at the right times to take advantage of Safety Cars and other variables.”

The 6 Hour commences at 11:30 tomorrow morning, with live coverage on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
