Sparesbox Racing Toyota 86 pilots David Bailey and Matt Thewlis said they are fully focused on a strong endurance package after qualifying seventh in Class D for tomorrow’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
Bailey started the qualifying session before handing over to Thewlis, who set the car’s a 2:44.2 lap time.
“We were running a full tank of fuel for that session, and we could have gone a little faster but I was balked by a slower car on my best lap,” Thewlis said.
“In the scheme of a long endurance race, it doesn’t matter that much and we’re both confident we have a solid package for tomorrow.
“The competition in Class D is very tough this year, but hopefully we can repeat our class podium result from 2016 tomorrow,” Bailey added.
“We’re on top of strategy and know we have the machine to do the job, and above all we’re ready to have some fun.”
The warm-up for the Bathurst 6 Hour will be held at 8:10 tomorrow, with the race starting at 11:30. It will be live streamed on www.bathurst6hour.com.au.
