Scott Taylor is pleased with his preparation ahead of this weekend’s third round of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia, to be held at the NTI Townsville 500.
In the previous round of the series at The Bend, Taylor enjoyed one of his most competitive weekends in the category to date, finishing third in the Morris Finance Pro-Am Class in the weekend’s opening race and fourth overall.
“The key factor behind my strong weekend at The Bend was that I started the weekend well; I was comfortable in the car after Friday practice, which gave me a solid baseline to build upon for qualifying and racing.
“In the races, some luck went our way but I also felt we took a step forward in terms of our overall speed – I was able to race competitively in the top five Pro-Am group.”
Taylor believes he can carry momentum from The Bend to Townsville.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have some more time in the car since The Bend and I’ve been learning a lot from the other ASM drivers,” Taylor said.
“Townsville is a track I enjoy, and I’ve had some decent results there in the past. Street circuits are a lot of fun, especially when you get airborne over some of the kerbs.
“Obviously, it’s still challenging times for everyone with the pandemic, so for Carrera Cup to have still attracted a field in the mid-20s shows how strong the category is at the moment and it’s a credit to everyone involved.
Practice for this weekend’s Carrera Cup round will be held on Friday, ahead of qualifying and racing on Saturday and Sunday.
