Leading Australian employee management software provider Deputy.com has thrown its support behind the popular Wakefield 300 endurance race, signing on as naming-rights sponsor for the 2017 event.
This year marks the 10th running of the Wakefield 300, which has steadily grown in popularity since it was first held in 2008 – co-incidentally, the same year the cloud-based Deputy.com software was officially launched.
Deputy.com Chairman Steve Shelley has been a long-time competitor in the event, while his son Jake is the most successful driver in the race’s history with victories in 2012, ’13 and ’15.
Mr Shelley says the Wakefield 300’s longevity and popularity were key reasons behind Deputy.com’s decision to sponsor the event.
“Where a lot of other endurance racing events have come and gone over the years, the Wakefield 300 has been a regular fixture on the motorsport calendar for a decade, and continues to attract strong fields,” Mr Shelley said.
“It’s very good value, it’s a lot of fun, and it attracts a wide range of competitors.”
Wakefield Park operations manager Matt Baragwanath said the sponsorship deal is an endorsement of the Wakefield 300 concept.
“We pride ourselves on providing an affordable environment for competitors to experience the strategy and teamwork aspects of endurance racing, and we’re very pleased to have attracted support from such a successful Australian business,” Mr Baragwanath said.
“To have one of our regular competitors supporting the entire event is a reflection of the Wakefield 300’s high standing among the club-level racing community.”
The Deputy.com Wakefield 300 will take place on 25-26 February.

About the Wakefield 300
Since its inception in 2008, the Wakefield 300 has grown into one of Australia’s most popular endurance races.
Unlike other multi-class endurance events, cars in the Wakefield 300 are not categorised by mechanical specifications; instead, they are split into divisions based on lap-times. This allows a wide variety of cars to compete on a level playing field.
The Wakefield 300 has been hotly contested over the years and won by manufacturers including Mazda, Mitsubishi, Lotus and Ginetta.
